TEENAGE

Teenage is an unconventional historical film about youth culture before the 1950s and the creation of teenagers. Based on a groundbreaking book Teenage: The Creation of Youth 1875-1945, by the seminal punk journalist Jon Savage (England’s Dreaming), the film will be directed by Matt Wolf (Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell).

Mixing stylized Super-8 recreations in contemporary locations, the voices of real teens from history performed by actors, a wealth of fascinating archival material, and a contemporary post-punk sound track, the film will show how the “Teen Age” came into existence; the provocative roles youth have played in history; and the powerful influence teenagers still have today.
